The Bahala Na Gang is a street gang in the Philippines and spread to the United States of America.

History

In early 1940’s, Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines – the gang was established by Divino Talastas, a native of Bulacan, born in early 1920’s, who moved with his siblings in Sampaloc. Before the forming of the gang, he has a brother known as “Emong”, at an early age of 13-14, was most feared in the area, who was notorious in targeting, killing police officers which rooted from his early trouble with the police, when he was arrested, tortured (including electricuting his genital), allegedly, in order to secure his conviction. When Emong was released, he became the top enemy for the police, numerous murdered policemen soon followed. There was terror. However, the authority soon found his whereabout and shot him at the age of 15. The 5-year-old brother witnessed how his dead body moves while the gunshots continues – an over killed job. This event would have an impact to Emong’s siblings, one is Divino (Diving as what he was known in the area). After Emong’s death, there was a struggle for territorial power as to who would lead. Another gang tried to take control – Sige-Sige Gang. This was the Golden Period of Philippine Street Gangs. To matched the existing Sige-Sige, Divino formed a gang, the Bahala Na Gang, which name he took from the existing night bar in Sampaloc, the Bahala Na Bar. Earliest members were hardcore street fighters who were loyal to Emong. The main goal is merely to protect them from terror from other gangs. As years passed by, the BNG, spread throughout the Islands, often, members never knew who founded the gang in the first place. There was never a rule to follow on how to join the gang. A classic example on how something small could spread like fire and by the time it happens, many members to the gang were doing all kinds of criminal activities. Divino himself was a regular to Iwahig Prison, but when he resides there, he will hold a top post among inmates, as their “mayor”. Before he died, Divino himself told his story to few people he knew as he reached his old age. He died in early 80’s. He was abducted and when his body was found inside the sack floating in the river, he was tortured, and died a horrible death, believed to be connected with some kind of ‘unfinished job’ he made for one influential person of power. Central America’s Gangs are More Dangerous Than Ever

http://www.insightcrime.org/news-analysis/central-america-gangs-are-more-dangerous-than-ever

The possible arrival of a few thousand Syrian refugees in the United States has caused a political firestorm, but there is a much more serious humanitarian crisis brewing on America’s southern border. The growing wave of unaccompanied children flowing from the northern tier (Northern Triangle) of Central America across the US-Mexico border could very well turn into a long-lasting tsunami due to the horrific violence and gang warfare wracking the region.

Despite the recent announcement by Secretary of State John Kerry that the United States will increase the number of Central American refugees admitted and work with the United Nations to help those at risk, the number of unaccompanied minors fleeing the Northern Triangle of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala will likely soon surpass the 2014 surge. Nor are recent efforts by the administration of President Barack Obama to round up and deport those already in the United States illegally likely to blunt the dynamics driving people to leave.

The spreading wave of savagery — including beheadings, dismemberment, and systematic rape — is the result of the growing involvement of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS13) and Barrio 18 gangs in the global cocaine trade. The increasing revenues of these transnational gangs have pushed the groups toward greater sophistication and political awareness. The result is a lethal combination of political messaging that is part liberation theology and part Pablo Escobar — the outcome being that these gangs now boast vast territorial control, growing military power, and rapidly expanding criminal enterprises.

With soaring revenues from transporting and selling cocaine and crack, the inter-gang violence and bloody territorial disputes have spread and grown more brutal. The gangs are not only fighting each other, but muscling in on territories of the well-entrenched drug trafficking transport networks tied to Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel.

As a result, El Salvador’s homicide rate in 2015 was 105 per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest in the world. Guatemala and Honduras ranked among the world’s top five. This level of violence makes daily living in much of the Northern Triangle a potentially fatal gamble. Boys are corralled into gangs; those who refuse are killed. Girls as young as 11 years old are taken as “jainas,” or sex slaves. This inescapable threat is why parents and relatives send their children on the treacherous and costly trip to the United States.

Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13)

Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) is an international criminal gang that originated in Los Angeles, California. It has spread to other parts of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America. The majority of the gang is ethnically composed of Central Americans (mostly Salvadorans) and active in urban and suburban areas.

In the U.S., the MS-13 has an especially heavy presence in Los Angeles County and the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California; the Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas of Fairfax County, Virginia, Montgomery County, Maryland, and Prince George’s County, Maryland; Queens, New York; Long Island, New York; Newark, New Jersey, Plainfield, New Jersey; Jersey City, New Jersey; Elizabeth, New Jersey; the Boston, Massachusetts area; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Houston, Texas. There is also a presence of MS-13 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Members of MS distinguish themselves by tattoos covering the body and also often the face, as well as the use of their own sign language. They are notorious for their use of violence and a subcultural moral code that predominantly consists of merciless revenge and cruel retributions. This cruelty of the distinguished members of the “Maras” or “Mareros” earned them a path to be recruited by the Sinaloa Cartel battling against Los Zetas in an ongoing drug war south of the United States border. [5] [6][7] Their wide-ranging activities have drawn the attention of the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who have initiated wide-scale raids against known and suspected gang members – netting hundreds of arrests across the country.

Mexican Mafia

The Mexican Mafia (Spanish: Mafia Mexicana), also known as La eMe (Spanish for “the M”), is a highly organized Mexican American criminal organization in the United States.[1][4] Despite its name, the Mexican Mafia did not originate in Mexico and is entirely a U.S. criminal prison organization. Sureños, including MS-13 and Florencia 13,[15] use the number 13 to show allegiance to the Mexican Mafia. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet. Law enforcement officials report that La eMe is the most powerful gang within the California prison system.[16]

Government officials state that there are currently 155–300 official members of the Mexican Mafia with around 990 associates who assist La eMe in carrying out its illegal activities in the hopes of becoming full members.[

Sureños  Sur 13

Sureno 6

Sureños, Sur 13, or Sureños X3 are groups of loosely affiliated gangs[10] that pay tribute to the Mexican Mafia while in U.S. state and federal correctional facilities.

Many Sureño gangs have rivalries with one another and the only time this rivalry is set aside is when they enter the prison system.[4][6][11] Thus, fighting is common among different Sureño gangs even though they share the same common identity. Sureños have emerged as a national gang in the United States.[5]

The Sinaloa Cartel (Spanish: Cártel de Sinaloa or CDS)[9] is an international drug trafficking, money laundering, and organized crime syndicate.[10] Established during the mid-1980s,[11] the Sinaloa Cartel is based primarily in the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa,[12] with operations in the Mexican states of Baja California, Durango, Sonora, and Chihuahua.[13][14] The cartel is also known as the Guzmán-Loera Organization and the Pacific Cartel, the latter due to the coast of Mexico from which it originated. The cartel has also been called the Federation and the Blood Alliance.[13][15][16][17] The ‘Federation’ was partially splintered when the Beltrán-Leyva brothers broke apart from the Sinaloa Cartel.[18]

The United States Intelligence Community considers the Sinaloa Cartel “the most powerful drug trafficking organization in the world”[19] and in 2011, the Los Angeles Times called it “Mexico’s most powerful organized crime group.”[20] The Sinaloa Cartel is associated with the label “Golden Triangle”, which refers to the states of Sinaloa, Durango, and Chihuahua. The region is a major producer of Mexican opium and marijuana.[18] According to the U.S. Attorney General, the Sinaloa Cartel is responsible for importing into the United States and distributing nearly 200 tons of cocaine and large amounts of heroin between 1990 and 2008.[21] According to the National Drug Intelligence Center, within the U.S. the Sinaloa Cartel is primarily involved in the distribution of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and MDMA.[22]

As of 2015, the Sinaloa Cartel is the most active drug cartel involved in smuggling illicit drugs into the United States and trafficking them throughout the United States.[23]
