Scouts Royale Brotherhood (SRB or Saraba) Fraternity
Scouts Royale Brotherhood (abbreviated as SRB) is an International Fraternity based in the Philippines. It was founded by brothers of Alpha Phi Omega-Philippines at San Sebastian College (Alpha Delta Chapter) to extend Alpha Phi Omega’s principles to the High School Level. The purpose of the Fraternity is to Assemble High School and eventually College students in order to develop Leadership, to promote Friendship, and to Render Service to Humanity.
Scouts Royale Brotherhood was originally formed and conceptualized as an organization among high school students. It was founded by the members of the Alpha Delta chapter of Alpha Phi Omega-Philippines : Lord Len Toledo, Lord Bong Manuel,Lord Jun Cristobal, Lord Vic Tomelden, and Lord Cary Lazo as the National Adviser, with the purpose of expanding APO’s principles of Leadership, Friendship & Service, and Scouting in the intermediate students. It was founded on September 22, 1975 at San Sebastian College with 37 chartered members. Bro. Vicente “Bing” Marabut (+) was declared the “Il Duce” (Italian eel-doo-che) or “the leader.”
From being a fraternity exclusively for high school students, SRB evolved and developed into an independent (inter)national service fraternity catering to both high school and college students. While it evolved to be an independent and separate entity to that of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), SRB is a consistent ally and friend of all APO brothers united by a common and undeniable fraternal bloodline as well as optimum principles such as developing effective and democratic leadership, fostering friendship and rendering service to all.
SRB Cardinal Principles
Scouts Royale Brotherhood develops leaders and is very proud of that. As we grow, we seek qualities of leadership, and through our lives, we pursue the development of these qualities and the development of other ‘well-rounded’ valued. Through our leadership development program as proivided by the Scouts Royale Brotherhood, brothers and sisters were able to develop ourselves. And, as we aspire for greater things in life, we also become aware of limiting factors—things which we can’t control,. Yet, this external forces that ultimately shaped our destiny as we learned to control and develop what we have inside of us. Thus, we discovered our own talents and strengths and strive to develop better our skills. We study, we learn, we unlearn, we practice, we lead.
Brotherhood is the spirit of friendship. It implies respect, honesty and solidarity. It means that we go beyond our differences and instead emphasize on collective action as we join together in unselfish service. It means listening to Brothers whose views on issues might differ from our own. It means working closely with people whom under other circumstances we might not choose as our friends.
SRB’s Chapter service program provides many opportunities for the development of social awareness, friendship and leadership skills. Participation in our service program helps make Scouts Royale Brotherhood the unique fraternal organization that it is.
